Oktoberfest is the largest beer festival in the world held in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The festival in Germany is a 16-day folk festival that runs from late September to the first weekend in October. Every single year over 6 million people from around the world travel to Munich to celebrate with the German people.
Last year, our very own Oktoberfest festival was held in Downtown Grand Junction CO.
The 2014 Grand Junction Oktoberfest was held on Main Street between 3rd and 5th Streets. The event was free and open to the entire family with activities starting as early as 11:00 am and ending promptly at 8:30 am.
Grand Junction Oktoberfest Celebration
The Grand Junction Oktoberfest was complete with a host of authentic German flavor and scene–dress up if you’d like! Great beer and food was available at the festival; of course! So enjoy a stein of beer and eat chow down on the best sausage around at the Grand Junction Oktoberfest 2015 celebration.
Last year’s event featured dozens of awesome events scheduled all day long!
The day began with the tapping of the keg at Noon followed immediately by the Beer Barrel Polka! Games and activities were held all-day for the kids and a wiener dog race in the afternoon. Adults enjoyed a nail pounding, beer mug holding, and yodeling contest.
There’s plenty of other things to do in October in Grand Junction. Our Wednesday and Saturday Farmers’ Market will bring some of the largest crowds of the season before it closes shop for the winter.
Tour of the Moon Grand Cycling Classic will be held October 3; stay active with the Rollin’ on the River 3K October 10. Close out the month of October with Trick or Treat Carnival in Palisade and the Truck N Treat on October 24.
