Looking for something to do on Memorial Day weekend 2016 in Grand Junction and the surrounding area? We’ve got a variety of suggestions for you and the whole family! Memorial Day 2016 falls on Monday, May 30, so mark your calendars for one of these fun events that weekend!
2016 Shrine Circus | Mesa County Fairgrounds
The circus comes to town on Memorial Day weekend here in Grand Junction with showtimes on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th. Catch the show at 10am or 8pm on either day depending on whether you’re an early riser or you’d like an evening activity. Buy tickets for less in advance by stopping at City Market, Conchitas Mexican Restaurant, or any other Western Colorado Shrine member. $5 in advance or $6 at gate for kids, and $10 advance or $15 at gate for adults.
Junior College Baseball World Series | Suplizio Field
For over 50 years, Grand Junction’s been the proud host of the Junior College Baseball World Series, and our local community has enjoyed supporting and attending these events. The series runs from Saturday May 28 through Saturday June 4, and you can opt for a series pass (priced by seating section) or purchase individual game tickets at $10 for general admission or $12 for reserved seats. Yes, you can bring your own food and drink to the games!
Live Music on the Lawn | Edgewater Brewery
On Saturday the 28th, bring your lawn chairs and blankets down to Edgewater Brewery for some live music on their spacious lawn from 6:00-9:00pm. Entertainment will be by Retrospectacle, a local band specializing in groove/funk and world music – it’s safe to say you can dance to it if you like or just relax and enjoy! Food and beverages available will be available for purchase.
Weaponry Exhibit | Musuem of the West
Starting on May 13 and running through next February, there will be a fascinating exhibit on display at the Museum of the West on Ute Ave called Western Colorado Weaponry: Tools of Survival and Conflict. Check out tools and weapons both genuine and carefully recreated that were used by Ute Indians, the U.S. Army, Spanish explorers, and more. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for children 3-12. Group rates available.
